More About Johnson Tiles

Johnson Tiles was formed in 1901 in Stoke, England. If you have some old tiles in your house, the chances are they were made by Johnsons, as importing tiles was unheard of until later in the century.

The popularity of Johnson Tiles grew and exports to other countries became bigger, with the country opening factories in the Far East. In 1979 Johnsons was bought out by bathroom brand Norcros, who still own them today. They still manufacture much of their range in Stoke, but technology has moved on and their factory now incorporates such innovations as ink jet technology to create the patterns on their tiles.

Johnson Tiles has won awards for its recycling system, which sees around 28% of its tiles created with ceramic waste from its own factory and other companies in the area.

Long standing ranges that have been specified for many projects around the world include Kerastar porcelain floor tiles. Available in 16 colours, 4 different surface finishes and 4 sizes, their popularity is high amongst architects and designers due to the versatility for commercial projects.

A recent new addition to the Johnsons family are Savoy wall tiles; these have a subtle gloss surface and are available in 2 slim sizes of 300x100mm & 200x100mm in a range of contemporary colours. The popularity of brick size tiles for bathrooms and kitchens to achieve the chic, old English type look has grown immensely and Savoy fits this perfectly.
